What causes acid reflux eating disorder, hearburn symptoms and consequently GERD ?
1. Diets or eating habbits that use certain types of foods and beverages lower the tone of the lower esophageal sphincter. These eating habbits include: chocolate, products containing mint list, fatty foods, alcohol and caffeine-containing beverages (coffee, black tea, cola, etc.).
2. Heartburn, acid reflux or GERD is more likely to happen when the body is a horizontal position which is when you sleep.
3. Acid reflux, heartburn or GERD may caused by any condition where there is an increase in abdominal pressure, which physically causes the stomach acid to come at a upper level in the stomach and hence get upper into the esophagus. This disorder may caused by : a physical strain, weight lifting, coughing, tight clothing, excessive weight or overweight body and pregnancy (due to the increase of the uterus which slightly changes stomach geometry) .
4. Concomitant diseases may contribute to acid reflux, heartburn of gerd : hiatal hernia, diabetes, autoimmune diseases
5. Use of certain drugs lead to disorders of the sphincter which links the esophagus with the stomach : some drugs for high blood pressure treatment, drugs to stimulate heart activity and drugs for the treatment of bronchial asthma
6. Many foods, substances and unhealthy habbits can irritate the esophagus proper functioning, contributing to the appearance of heartburn, acid reflux or gerd : spiced foods, citrus fruits and juices, tomatoes and tomato sauces, cigarette smoking, aspirine and medicines for treatment of osteoporosis symptoms.
